Playing with Backing Tracks

Whilst it’s always good to play with a real band sometimes financially or practically it’s much easier to use a backing track. Backing tracks however can range in quality and it is often hard to find decent ones. I was recently told about a website http://www.karaoke-version.com/ which offers really decent backing tracks. Whether you use them for performance or for practice, these tracks can provide much usage.

When playing to backing tracks it’s very important to know the material very well and how the song goes (structure, repeats etc). There is nothing worse than when a performer gets out of time or place in a backing track (slight hyperbole I know).

It’s not just singers who can use backing tracks. All other musicians can use them for whatever purpose including practice and performance. Perhaps you want to perform a guitar solo without the original guitar in the track. This is useful for things like school performances.
